The Pixma MX range requires FAX. In most ways, they remain very similar, but the MX series, MX454 sits fairly in the middle, are automatic document feeders (ADFS) as well as faxes. Pixma MX454 seems to be very Canon’s other all-in-ones, fluted surround and help feed tray to integrate the entire machine’s appearance in its ADF. The ADF can take up to 30 sheets each time.
The full width Control panel is relatively large, 62mm LCD display and good controls are placed out. These are simplified by the four, large, mode buttons to the right of the LCD, and have three soft keys underneath it, and it takes sensitive functions in that context. There is a large numeric pad on the right side, a trio of specific fax controls, and then the large copy and Scan Job buttons. A WiFi indicator is set right above the front lip of the chassis.
There’s only one paper feed tray on this machine, no sliding paper from the front. Instead, plain or photo paper is loaded on the back tray and feeds toward the pop-up tray when you start printing. On the curved edge of the front panel, to the right of the output tray, CompactFlash is a flip-Open cover that reveals memory card slots, as well as SD and Memorytick. Canon is still one of several printer manufacturers that includes a CompactFlash slot, we suspect to maintain compatibility with some high-end cameras. There is a PictBridge socket under the card slots, which can also handle these USB drives.
