Canon PIXMA MX895 Reviews– The Pixma MX895 has a wide consumer design and features both pigmented and dye-based black ink: primarily for documents, the other to produce high-quality photos. But it is also a business unit, with fax, Ethernet, 802 .11n Wi-Fi and double-sided copying on their list of do-it-all strengths.
On the front are memory slots behind a hidden door and another tab reveals five ink tanks. Its 3 in the screen not responding to touch, but a 4 x 4 grid of dynamic buttons next to the one that lights up with different options for navigation. It’s not a patch on the precise control of Lexmark’s touchscreen printer and it sounds incredibly annoying sound by default, but it is not too difficult to get the hang of it.
The three color inks and both pigmented and dye-based black is the same as in the MX885, which means photo quality is outstanding. The colors are rich, black is beautiful dark and the level of detail is exquisite. The text is also thick, greasy and perfectly defined, so for sheer print quality in MX895 is very hard to top. Scan and copy functions is less stellar, but still pretty good. Our test-text were rendered well and fine details are captured, but Whites tended to be a bit dirty and colors in general rather washed out. They are perfectly usable, but the scans will need a bit of touch-up software to match HP’s high catching standards.
Other than that, the speeds are similar to before it managed a reasonable 11.5 ppm and 6.1 ppm in mono and color and a 6 x 4 photo took 48 seconds. Running costs have risen somewhat, however. Canon offers no high-yield cartridges to reduce costs in addition to the fairly steep 3.3 p mono and 9 p coloring pages, and that alone will be enough to kill his appeal outside the home. For cheap, high-quality document printing, the HP Officejet range remains a much faster and more appropriate Home Office options, but if the photos have priority you will not find a better all round than the Canon Pixma MX895.
